Road Trips

Me and my other half went out to Daytona, Florida (for Bike week) many years ago.  It was really good to meet up with other bikers and talk about different lifestyles.  More Harleys out there than here and a culture of putting a bike on a trailer - that is something we just wouldn't do (unless the bike was broke!) I think its because your roads are fundamentally different from ours.  Relatively straight - which is why you have more hogs, our curvier roads (farmers always insist on roads going around the fields and our fields are smaller than yours!) suit rice burners betters. And our roads are busier so you are driving more actively, more gear changing more slowing down speeding up etc. But then your roads are longer the concept of distance is different, hence the trailers.  I have biked across Europe but in terms of distance that would only equate to a state or two in the US LOL.

I have heard about people from the UK hiring cars out in the US and doing their own unscripted road trip - wonder if that would work for a family holiday.  There are five of us but luckily your cars tend to be bigger too LOL so that would suit us brilliantly.

The other half goes mostly to Houston (hot with high humidity - they do jogging at night!! weird.) but its not one he would recommend, Chicago was though, apparently the art deco buildings are fabulous.

So I hope that Chaske (and Emilee?) had a great time with their road trip.  I think the guy needed some time off, he does so many appearances and aren't we glad that he does !!! :)
